In 1931 a new nurses' home, designed by the architect, James Lochhead (1870-1942), opened to the south of the complex, and in c.1935, a new site was developed at nearby Hartwood Hill in response to the growing need for accommodation for mentally handicapped adults.. We offer 12 month temporary contracts for graduate Enrolled Nurses (EN) within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. Our temporary placements offer between a 48 hour to 64 hour working fortnight. Our placements include either: two 6-month rotations at Cairns Hospital including our Mental Health Unit. Bio Notes: James Lochhead was born in 1870 in Johnstone, the son of J Lochhead, a furniture dealer in Hope Street, Ayr and was educated at Ayr Grammar School and subsequently Ayr Academy.
